Why "Garrison"?The name for our kennel comes from the
community we live in. Located in beautiful Nova Scotia,
Canada, Halifax is situated on a peninsula adjacent to
the Atlantic Ocean. Originally settled by First Nations
and known as Chebucto, Halifax was garrisoned- claimed
and developed into a fortified town by the British in
1749. Halifax has one of the last remaining
star shaped fortresses
in the world which is one of Parks
Canada most visited National Historic Site. During our
university days, my husband worked there as a historical
animator, and we still love the history, the views and
the sense of heritage of the fortress.
